This year, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, the National CMV Foundation is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving.
At National CMV Foundation, our purpose is to prevent CMV infection in women of childbearing age, by:
- Empowering women, parents, families and local community networks through grassroots engagement to facilitate conversation and champion the cause.
- Delivering consistent, clear messaging and evidence-based data that aids in prevention, educates the public and increases its understanding of congenital CMV.
- Influencing CMV research priorities regarding CMV prevention, treatment and intervention.
- Advocating for a CMV vaccine.
As mentioned, one of our key objectives is to inform research priorities by pursuing young investigators interested in maternal or congenital CMV infections. This type of funding is critically important to the future of congenital CMV research. Our grant programs GIVE essential funding to those at the forefront in the fight to @stopCMV.
The goal for our 2018 #GivingTuesday campaign is to fund an additional Early Career Congenital CMV Research Award. We recently closed our latest submission cycle and we received SEVERAL exciting applications; we wish we could support them all!
To meet this goal, we've set a fundraising target of $18,000 in 2018. Help us kick-off the giving season by joining our #GivingTuesday campaign. Every dollar counts!
